What's a trad (or folk) dance across France?
An evening of traditional dancing to live acoustic music. You dance in circles, in pairs or in chains (mazurka, scottische, bourrée, circle dances…), and the feel is friendly and shared rather than stage-and-audience.
Do I need to know how to dance to go to a trad dance across France?
No. Most events run a short lesson at the start of the night, and the dances are quick to pick up on the spot. You can come on your own — partners swap around all evening.
Are trad dances free across France?
Many are pay-what-you-can or cost just a few euros (a hat passed round for the musicians). The price is shown on every event.
