Abundantly moving at the outer edges of electronic music, .VRIL’s sound is equally timeless and ahead of its time. .VRIL’s visionary electronics continuously developed over a discography that includes eight albums, numerous EPs, and a prolific catalog of remixes. His debut LP, Torus (2014, Giegling), laid open a landscape of loops and spectral noises—sounds that remain strikingly relevant.

From the dystopian echoes of UV (2011, Ostgut Ton) to the ethereal depths of Anima Mundi (2018, Delsin), his work drifts with an almost supernatural fluidity across a variety of soundscapes. In 2024, his sixth LP, Saturn is a Supercomputer (Omnidisc), set a new benchmark, and brought forth a broader and more intricate spectrum of his signature style. .VRIL thinks and acts freely. He is an artist who moves at the outer edges of electronic music, continuously reimagining its possibilities.

The deep relationship with his machines creates an alchemy that is both intimate and otherworldly, resulting in chords and subtle sound textures that are recognizable yet somewhat unexplainable. He describes these sounds as “sonic reflections of the subconscious,” a testament to his singular creative vision.

Live, .VRIL’s performances can be a deeply felt experience. On the dancefloor, his contemporary techno and electro deliver cathartic energy—recognizable and always a little arcane. His reach, however, goes beyond club and festival settings, with ambient concerts designed for inward-gazing journeys and collaborative live jams with fellow artists.

The project Out of Place Artefacts, alongside Rødhåd, explores experimental, improvisational soundscapes beyond traditional dance music. A regular contributor to STOOR and Sebastian Mullaert’s Circle of Live, .VRIL remains a central figure in the electronic underground. With a series of self-released dancefloor-oriented tracks and multiple projects in motion, the ever-unfolding “.VRIL-iverse” has surged with momentum.
