8-week Chen-style Tai Chi course for beginners focusing on mindful movement, balance and wellbeing

Step away from the demands of everyday life and discover a practice that supports both body and mind. Often described as "meditation in motion", Tai Chi combines slow, flowing movements with mindful breathing to improve balance, coordination, flexibility, and overall wellbeing while helping you feel calmer and more centred.

In this 8-week Tai Chi Course for Beginners, you'll learn the foundations of Chen-style Tai Chi in a supportive and welcoming environment. Guided by an experienced instructor, you'll gradually develop greater body awareness, improve your posture, release unnecessary tension, and move with increased confidence and ease through gentle, low-impact practice.

With roots in both healing and martial traditions, Tai Chi offers far more than gentle exercise. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, improve your balance and mobility, support healthy ageing, or simply discover a mindful new way to stay active, this course provides a practical foundation for a lifelong practice.

Course content During the course, participants will work with techniques and ideas such as:

Grounding and centring the body

Weight shifting and balance control

Gentle joint-opening exercises to improve mobility

Chen-style silk-reeling principles

Yin and yang concepts in movement

Mindful breathing and relaxation

Soft focus and body awareness

Introductory partner exercises (where appropriate)

Learning the opening movements of the Chen-style form

As your confidence grows, you'll begin linking movements into flowing sequences while developing greater balance, coordination, and ease of movement.
