As the Po family grapples with its ties to corrupt flood control projects, torrential rains leave more than a hundred dead and counting in the city of Tebes. In a desperate bid to escape prosecution and save their company, St. Paul the Apostle Constructions, the household unwittingly confronts a past long-buried yet bound to them all—a past that, once seen clearly, leads to tragedy. Based on Sophocles’ “Oedipus the King,” “Rex” reimagines the Greek classic against the urgent realities still plaguing the Philippines.
