Gentle Changes
Gentle Changes: A Mother-Daughter Workshop Join MIRIRS for Gentle Changes , a special mother-daughter workshop focused on education, connection, and navigating the changes of girlhood with gentleness.
This year, MIRIRS is exploring the Fruit of the Spirit, and this month, we are focusing on gentleness . As our girls grow and experience changes in their bodies, it is important that they have the knowledge, support, and confidence to care for themselves while knowing they can turn to trusted adults with their questions.
We are excited to welcome Dr. Leslie Appiah, MD (OBGYN), who specializes in pediatric and adolescent gynecology , to lead an educational session for mothers and daughters. Together, we will learn about our bodies and discuss the changes that come with growing up in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Following the group session, mothers and daughters will separate for two special experiences: For the girls: Ms. Nia Coleman, Founder of MIRIRS, will lead the girls in creating hygiene bags while continuing conversations about caring for themselves with confidence and gentleness. For the mothers: Dr. Appiah will host a dedicated question-and-answer session, giving mothers an opportunity to ask questions they may not have felt comfortable asking during the group discussion. We will then come back together for mother-daughter connection games, table talks, and activities designed to encourage open communication, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful memories.
**This workshop is recommended for girls ages 9 and older who have already started going through puberty, as well as girls who may begin going through puberty in the next 1-3 years. Whether your daughter is already navigating these changes or preparing for them, this workshop offers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and build confidence alongside you.
At MIRIRS, we believe that the foundation we build during girlhood matters. Our hope is that every mother and daughter leaves feeling more informed, connected, and equipped to navigate this season of life together.
We look forward to creating a welcoming space for mothers and daughters to learn, connect, and grow together!
