Ankora

Ankora ft. Breen & Boizi is a collaboration between friends, bringing together musical ideas formed at Tomorrow’s Warriors and developed within the London jazz scene.

Lineup: Hannah Clifton (trumpet), Klara Devlin (trumpet), Tami Adebanjo (guitar), Aleks Dimitrova (bass), Miranda Radford (drums), Kezia Abuoma (piano), Christ-Stéphane Boizi (trombone), Lauren Breen (sax).

The name ‘Ankora’ — from Latin anchora — evokes groundedness, hope and connection to roots, and in Italian suggests ‘again’, marking the band’s rebirth after mentorship with Tomorrow’s Warriors. Their repertoire mixes originals and powerful jazz covers, influenced by Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter and contemporary artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Geri Allen, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts and Kenny Kirkland.
