The future is collective. Collectives help us learn how to share the responsibility of caring for ourselves and our communities as we work toward building a new world.

What does it mean to be part of a collective? A "collective" is an umbrella term for any group of people who work together in a non-hierarchical formation to manage the group. Whether you're a parent in a neighborhood WhatsApp chat or a worker-owner at a cooperatively owned coffee shop, you might consider yourself part of a collective. Our experiences in collectives might be impacted by how others choose to show up, making collective work a challenge for many.

In this workshop, we'll start exploring how we in turn can also step up to shape collective work for the better.

This workshop is co-hosted with OpenMFA for artist-organizers who want to explore the many layers of political action within cultural organizing collectives. This project is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. Explore the Free Futurist Library on Arena Book a 1:1 conflict support session
