HK.Kino.Berlin presents – East Asia Short Films Edition 2026
Programme of five short films exploring family reunion across East Asia, screened with English subtitles at Brotfabrik
10.7.26 | 19 Uhr Programme 1: Finding Our Way Back
Across borders and generations, how do we remain connected? The five short films in this programme approach reunion from five different perspectives. In The New Years and Reunion, decades of separation caused by the Korean War leave families waiting for moments that may never come. Homecoming and Going captures a moment of transition between two Hong Kong migrants, as one returns home while another begins a new life abroad. Homeward Bound transforms a search for an ancestral home into a rediscovery of family history, while As It Should Be finds reunion within the familiar rituals of a Lunar New Year dinner, where an unspoken truth gradually comes to light.
Cantonese, English and Korean with English subtitles.
