Con Carmen Caceres, Chisato Fujii, Facundo Ferreyra, Julia Discenza, Madi Dyke, Mary Madsen, Shizu Higa, Sofia Ameglio
Immersive contemporary dance exploring connection and disconnection as the audience moves around and engages closely with the performers.
About the Performance: El Péndulo ( The Pendulum ) transports the audience through an immersive experience featuring improvisational dance, inspired by the image of the oscillating pendulum as the driving force. Throughout this interactive piece, dancers explore an array of movement ideas from a relational perspective, shifting between instances of connection and disconnection. While the dancers swing, suspend, sway, and vacillate, we invite the audience to stand or walk during the performance, observing the piece from varied perspectives. They are encouraged to get close to the performers, appreciate details, connect with the dancers, and become integral parts of the experience. This project stems from an idea that has become increasingly relevant in our current political climate. Historically, the 'pendulum' has swung incessantly from one dominant political perspective to the opposite. We look at the pendulum's opposite ends as reflecting our cultural perspectives, ranging from collectivism to individualism.
