Two‑hour hands‑on patternmaking workshop to reverse engineer a garment into a sewable pattern

Learn the magic of patternmaking with fully guided instruction and all materials provided. With just a BYO sketch, photo, or real item, you will be guided over 2 hours on how to effectively reverse engineer into a sewable pattern!

What You Will Learn

• The 3 Basic Principles of Patternmaking: Dart manipulation, Added fullness, and Contouring. Understanding these 3 facets unlocks a world of design possibilities.

• How to 'read' a garment: understanding the construction, drape, textile choice, and overall silhouette of your inspo piece.

• Applying these techniques into making a real pattern that can be sewn after class, including how to correctly mark and measure your pattern to get the most accurate fit.

Who Can Participate

• Any skill level! This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, hobby sewists, cosplayers, fashion students, nostalgic nerds, etc.

• Touch Cloth is a Trans + Gender Diverse/FLINTA space. Be welcome here if you identify with these groups x

• Tickets are limited, with Free 4 Mob tickets reserved for all workshops.

The End Result

• A workable, accurate pattern (made from a sketch, photo or real piece) which can be sewn in a variety of fabrics at your own pace.

• Knowledge in basic patternmaking principles and processes.

• Class handouts including further reading references.

• A couple of chill hours learning with community.

Tickets are limited - book now to avoid disappointment.
