This event is based on Taran's writing-and-walking teaching approach developed with different groups of non-professional writers, including Afghan women writers at risk. It explores how walking can unlock new ideas and push through creative blocks, and helps participants transform their experience of passing through a place into new stories.
For this event, Taran has adapted that approach into a 90-minute session in Crystal Palace Park. The shorter format will focus on the central relationship between walking, attention, place and writing, with a small number of accessible prompts.
Taran is interested in the location of the Crystal Palace Park as it contains a range of landscapes, histories and conflicting narratives to encounter while walking.
