Until I Arrive
A one‑person physical theatre piece exploring stigma, silence and strength within uniformed services.
Until I Arrive comes to the Baxter Studio as one of two Finest of the Fest winners from the 2026 Zabalaza Theatre Festival, following a well-respected female soldier whose greatest battle takes place within her own mind rather than on the front lines. The piece is written, directed and performed solo by Lindokuhle Melaphi, who also won Best Script at the festival for the work.
The production examines stigma within uniformed services and the cost of staying silent, built around questions of what real strength looks like and what it costs to ask for help. Award-winning director Tiisetso Mashifane wa Noni, known for Rise '76, Delela and Neighbourhood, mentors the production, with celebrated director Sylvaine Strike serving as creative supervisor across both Finest of the Fest winners.
Told through physical theatre rather than a conventional dialogue-driven structure, the piece uses movement to carry much of its emotional weight, condensing a complex inner conflict into a tight, single-performer format.
