Timothy Wayne-Wright Singing Workshop
Two-day intensive a cappella singing workshop with Grammy winner Timothy Wayne‑Wright, plus four preparatory rehearsals
World renowned a cappella specialist Timothy Wayne-Wright will deliver an intensive two-day workshop for singers, designed to enhance skills in unaccompanied group singing. A Grammy Award-winning artist, Tim has performed over 1,500 concerts worldwide as a member of The King’s Singers and brings more than 30 years of professional singing experience at the highest international level. He is also a highly regarded educator, having led over 500 workshops and masterclasses worldwide.
A key focus will be on expressive communication, with participants discovering how vocal colour, phrasing, and musical intention can deepen audience engagement. Through practical exercises and group work, Tim will provide tools to help singers connect more meaningfully with both the music and their listeners. The program will cater to singers of varying experience levels, creating an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages both individual growth and collective music-making.
The workshop will run for two full days, 26 and 27 September, from 9:00–17:00 each day. There will be breaks for tea and lunch on site. Participants will learn their notes through four preparatory workshops from late August to late September, hosted at the Yeppoon Community Centre and on Zoom. Preparatory sessions: Sat 29/08 14:00–17:00, Sat 12/09 14:00–17:00, Sat 19/09 14:00–17:00 (Yeppoon Community Centre), and Thu 24/09 19:00–21:00 (Capricorn Uniting Church).
Sheet music, a tutti track, and audio teaching tracks for each part will be made available online for free download once you register. By registering you agree to learn the music prior to the workshop and attend at least two preparatory workshops either in person or via Zoom. Workshop fees: $50 for Yeppoon Choral Society members, $60 for non-members. YCS membership is available for $50 per year. Lunches for the two days are optional at an additional $20 or bring your own lunch.
