Progressive bluegrass quintet SteelDrivers blend bluegrass soul, country and blues live at Academy Center of the Arts.
Only Nashville could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans — each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town’s commercial community — who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls’ reward.
Braiding their bluegrass roots with country, soul, blues and contemporary influences, the SteelDrivers specialize in a distinctive "bluegrass soul" hybrid. Since their 2005 debut the quintet have become a leading name in progressive bluegrass, earning five Grammy nominations (including one in 2025 for Best Bluegrass Album) and winning a Grammy in 2015 for The Muscle Shoals Recordings. Signed to Sun Records in 2025, they released the Grammy-nominated album Outrun to critical acclaim.
