An exhibition of abstract and figurative works by Lawrence-based artist Javy Ortiz, exploring culture, process and place.
Javy Ortiz is an artist based in Lawrence, Kansas, working across abstract and figurative forms. His work combines bold color, texture, and precision, shaped by his cultural roots, personal experiences, and the people and places around him. Ortiz works primarily in series, using each body of work to explore different ideas, processes, and perspectives.
In recent years, he has also expanded his practice into public art, creating murals and large scale installations throughout the Lawrence community, including the 2025 public installation Remembering La Yarda.
