Shaking Hands
A dance and poetry show about finding hope and queer love after abuse, written and performed by Eva Kelly.
A new show rooted in hope in finding love after abuse that combines poetry and movement.
'I am trying to rewire my brain…to unlearn how to love in a fearful way.' We meet the poet as she grapples with confusion in her body, why it's not working the way everyone else's is. The battle between mind and body becomes bloodier as she follows her desires on a search for love, and instead is abused. Through dance and poetry, we see a desire to fill a hole inside that cannot be mended by anyone but herself.
Shaking Hands finds joy in queer love and friendships as the poet aims to repair body and mind after trauma.
How do young women navigate the world now? Will following their sexual desires make them feel used and afraid, or exhilarated and alive?
