Sashiko Stitching Workshop

Discover the beautiful world of traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching in this creative and mindful workshop.

Sashiko started as a practical embroidery technique to reinforce and repair clothing but developed into a beautifully decorative from of expression with endless opportunities for creative play with intricate pattern and colour.

In this workshop, you can create a beautiful Sashiko sampler square on cotton drill that can be made into a coaster, pouch, pin cushion or lavender bag. Learn how to plan and grid out your design onto fabric, how to read and adapt Sashiko patterns, how to master the stitching and weaving techniques as well as how to turn your completed Sashiko into a practical and useful gift.

Sashiko is a meditative and portable craft that is easy to pick up when you have a spare moment to relax and create – it is deceptively simple to learn and suitable for all levels of sewing experience.

Your teacher will provide plenty of inspiration and tips and encouragement as you spend a creative and meditative afternoon stitching. You will leave the workshop excited to apply your new skills.
