Risk Management
Practical workshop for PDIs and ADIs on applying risk management in driving lessons and Standards Check situations.
Risk Management is one of the most influential categories in both the Part 3 and Standards Check, and it's central to keeping learners, instructors, and other road users safe. Get it right, and your lesson flows with confidence. Get it wrong, and your score (and your pupil's safety) can suffer.
In this practical workshop, written by Kathy Higgins Dip DI. F Inst MTD and Leanne Condliff DVSA ADI (Grade A), you'll explore what risk management really means and how to apply it consistently and effectively in everyday lessons and test situations.
What You'll Explore Staying ahead of your learner — spotting hazards before they do. Managing risk effectively — knowing when to step in and when to hold back. Understanding risk — breaking down the concept clearly for you and your learners. Reducing or sharing risk — practical tools to avoid, minimise, or manage it. Protecting your score — how to avoid dropping to 7 marks or below. Teaching the "what ifs" — helping learners anticipate and act with confidence. Digging deeper — recognising when instructors accidentally add to the risk.
Who This Workshop Is For PDIs preparing for Part 3 or the Standards Check. ADIs wanting to strengthen their teaching and assessment performance. Trainers and mentors aiming to raise coaching standards.
