Owl Moon
Nature Center
Ever taken a night-time hike through the woods? Don’t miss out on your chance – and learn about owls along the way! Join us for a wintertime night hike guided by GCV&M naturalists and experience the outdoors as owls do. Warm your toes by one of our outdoor fire pits, families can listen in on a reading of “Owl Moon” by Jane Yolen, enjoy food and beverages in the Museum’s Meeting Center, shop specialty owl items in the Flint Hill store, and more! Visitors will have the exciting opportunity to meet these mysterious nocturnal creatures up close with a visit from our friends at Wild Wings.
Take a guided night-hike with a naturalist
Head out onto the trails at GCV&M with a naturalist for a guided night hike! You will experience the night woods as owls do, and if you’re lucky, see or hear an owl in the trees above!
Please note: there will still be some daylight for the groups that head out onto the trails at the beginning of the evening. These earliest tours are best for those with concerns about visibility, or those who would like to hike in relative daylight. Trail conditions may vary.
Please note that flash photography is absolutely not allowed.
Meet owls with Wild Wings!
Our friends at Wild Wings Inc. will be on-site with feathered friends! Learn about the different types of owls local to this region – what they look like, what they eat, what sorts of environments they prefer, and hear about Wild Wing’s efforts to care for these beautiful birds.
Please note that flash photography is absolutely not allowed.
