A brand-new play examining one of the key events in the 1980s miners' strike
Set in the fictitious South Yorkshire mining village of Gracethorpe, this exciting drama by Cotswold Players member John Salter, spans the 1984-5 miners’ strike and follows individuals as they navigate the appalling privations of the year-long industrial action. John was a witness to the aftermath of the so-called “battle of Orgreave” where thousands of striking miners clashed with the police.
The most violent event on British soil since the English Civil War, this was a tipping point in the strike and has altered our industrial, political and social history ever since.
