Off Loom Weaving is a free form, often whimsical way of creating fibre art.

Off Loom Weaving is a free form, often whimsical way of creating fibre art.

Description :  Off Loom Weaving is a free form, often whimsical way of creating fibre art. There is an opportunity for one’s imagination to take flight or to create a conventional landscape using a variety of techniques, stitches, and embellishments to build a unique tapestry of texture and colour.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN how to warp a circular loom. We will explore a variety of stitches and techniques for adding depth and texture to the piece. There will be opportunities to add embellishments to the weaving. And finally, the participants will learn how to finish their newly created work of art.

PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE the opportunity to create two weavings, one, an 8” sampler, and the second either an 8” or 12” design of their own.

THERE IS A TWO-WEEK interval between classes to allow enough time to complete the sampler and make significant progress on the second weaving.

Cost: LDWS Members – $150, Non-Members – $180

Date: Saturdays Nov 14, 28 and Dec 12, 2026

Time: 10:00am - 3:00pm

Location: 1731 Churchill Ave, London ON – East Lion’s Community Centre

Instructor:  Marion Jenkins

Participant Requirements:   No experience necessary

Equipment to bring:  Sharp scissors for cutting wool. I like to use snipping scissors. Pencil or pen Small sewing kit or knitting tool kit. 12’/30cm ruler – Nice to have but not absolutely essential Tapestry needles if you have them. Needles will be supplied, but they tend to go missing. For your second project – yarn from your stash, commercial and/or handspun, objects for embellishment e.g. Buttons, ribbons, beads, jewelry, etc. Crayons or coloured pencils if you wish to sketch a design – Again not necessary Material Cost:  Payable to the instructor: $25.

Our classes are primarily designed for adult learners. Students under 18 may register and attend if they are mature enough to participate fully, however, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who is over 18 and is also registered for the class.

The workshop is limited to 8 participants, please register early.

This class has a minimum number of 5 participants to proceed. If this number is not reached we’ll let you know about a week before the start of class. You will be refunded your full registration.

***Cancellation Policy: Participants who cancel their registration up to 1 month prior to the start of the workshop will receive a full refund, less Eventbrite fees.  A participant who finds a replacement for his/her spot within 1 month prior to the start of the workshop will receive a full refund, less Eventbrite fees.  Cancellations within 1 month of workshops (with no replacement found) and “no-shows” will not be refunded.  If the Guild cancels a workshop for any reason, all payments, including Eventbrite fees will be refunded.
