‘NEVER GET OLD’

Secret Life & Friends play the work of David Bowie

BOWIE BIRTHDAY BASH No.2

January 2027 and it is 80 years since David Bowie made his way into the world.

Some may say it was a kinder world then – two years after the global devastation of the Second World War where the defeat of the forces of evil boded well, it would have seemed, for a more secure and kinder world.

We are now living in the worst global crisis since the late 1940's thanks to monsters who may well, one day, be seen on a par at least with the monsters responsible for WWII.

We may be helpless in the face of technology and economics in the hands of seemingly sociopathic, if not psychopathic politicians and billionaires but on the ground good hearts still beat and steady hands reach out to those in need.

A study of the full length and breadth of David Bowie's huge catalogue of work reveals an artist, in the truest sense of the word, who was invested in reflecting the world around him and challenging anything he felt was out of synch with a good, kind, wholesome and humane planet.

Musically and lyrically there are few to match Bowie's range – beauty, drama and drive are invested without compromise and while listening to his work and watching his performances are inestimable, playing his music is like being somewhere else in the universe! As with BOWIE BIRTHDAY BASH No.1 in January 2026, we are playing from 8 til late with a feast of extraordinary music played by a wealth of Wexford's finest musicians.

Helpless? No! Not when we are faced with what has been happening in Gaza.

As with BBB1, we will be collecting for the Children of Gaza via Unicef in the hope that at least a little relief may help these poor things keep going until the world wakes up and pours love and restitution back into their lives and their homeland.

Secret Life & Friends look forward to another night of non-stop Bowie brilliance!
