My Plus One
Two improvisers. One hour. One very different night out before Christmas. Fool(ish) Improvisation presents My Plus One, an intimate, funny and moving improvised comedy show at York’s Friargate Theatre
Fool(ish) Improvisation presents My Plus One, an intimate, funny and moving improvised comedy show at York’s Friargate Theatre on 17th December.
Looking for something a little different amid the Christmas rush? Ever wondered what might happen when two performers step onto a stage with no script, no plan and an hour to fill? In My Plus One, the answer could be anything.
Coming to Friargate Theatre on Thursday 17th December at 7.30pm, My Plus One is a one-hour improvised comedy show built around an unusual proposition: two performers create a one-off evening of theatre, with characters, stories and relationships emerging in real time and never to be the same show twice. Expect characters who feel unexpectedly real, moments of genuine pathos, surprising emotional turns and plenty of laughs.
The show is one of the offerings of Fool(ish) Improvisation, whose work has been performed at York Theatre Royal, Theatre@41 and other venues across Yorkshire.
Featuring veteran of York improv, Ned Lunn, who has been performing in the city for the past 15 years, My Plus One brings together the spontaneity of improvisation with the depth and intimacy of two-person theatre. The show promises to offer an evening that can move from the ridiculous to the moving, and back again in a heartbeat.
And with Christmas just around the corner, the show offers a chance to step away from the shopping lists, festive preparations and end-of-year rush for an hour of unpredictable, live entertainment. No two performances are alike, and the result is an intimate, unpredictable and often hilarious evening in which the audience witnesses a story being discovered as it happens.
