An interactive 90-minute session with Helen Loveday on how mentoring works, from expectations to core listening skills.

We're excited to bring you Mentoring 101, with Helen Loveday, People Development Specialist and former manager of the mentoring programme for Etihad Airlines. Helen's interative presentation will guide us through common questions including:

• what mentoring is, and how it differs from coaching, managing and training

• what both mentor and mentee are responsible for

• the different approaches a mentor can take, from listening and questioning through to sharing experience and advice

• the risk of jumping too quickly into problem-solving or giving answers

• how to set up the relationship well at the start, including expectations, goals, confidentiality, boundaries and cadence

• core mentoring skills, particularly listening, questioning and checking assumptions

• recognising when a mentoring relationship has achieved its purpose or run its course

Whether you are a mentor; would like to be; or would like to find a mentor; join us on Wednesday 14 October for a practical session designed to give you confidence to make the most of your mentoring relationships.

We promise, it will be 90 minutes well spent. Register today and we'll look forward to seeing you on the day, at Hamilton Central Library.
