La Lucha

La Lucha at the 41st Street Music Patch

Some concerts entertain. La Lucha creates an experience.

Widely regarded as one of the Southeast's premier jazz trios, La Lucha has built a loyal following with breathtaking musicianship, fearless creativity, and the rare chemistry that comes from nearly twenty years of making music together.

Pianist John O'Leary , bassist Alejandro Arenas , and drummer Mark Feinman, three best friends whose musical roots span Mexico, Colombia, and the United States, blend jazz, Latin rhythms, original compositions, and imaginative reinterpretations into performances that are fresh, joyful, and completely unpredictable.

Their accolades speak for themselves. La Lucha has earned multiple Creative Loafing "Best of the Bay Jazz Ensemble" honors, performed at TEDx , collaborated with internationally acclaimed jazz artists, and continues to captivate audiences with recordings praised for their "telepathic interplay" and inventive artistry.

But awards don't tell the whole story.

What truly sets La Lucha apart is the joy they bring to the stage. One moment they'll deliver an original composition filled with lyrical beauty. The next, they'll surprise you with a fresh take on a beloved classic or transform an unexpected pop favorite into a sophisticated jazz masterpiece. Every performance is alive with conversation, spontaneity, and the thrill of musicians listening as intently to one another as the audience listens to them. There is simply no substitute for hearing this trio live.

In the intimate setting of the 41st Street Music Patch, you'll experience every subtle exchange, every inspired solo, every smile, and every musical conversation from just a few feet away. Whether you're a lifelong jazz enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates extraordinary musicianship, this promises to be an unforgettable evening beneath the live oaks.
