Roots to Bytes Weekly Cooking Club
Hands-on weekly cooking sessions where children aged 8-12 learn to chop, knead, bake and cook real recipes entirely themselves.
Weekly cooking sessions where children learn real kitchen skills, discover new recipes and build confidence and independence.
A different recipe. New skills. Every week.
Roots to Bytes Weekly Cooking Club is a hands-on cooking programme for children aged 8–12 , designed to give them the opportunity to learn how to cook for themselves not simply watch, mix a few ingredients or decorate something already prepared.
Each week, children will make a different recipe while developing practical kitchen skills along the way. Depending on what we're cooking, they'll learn to chop, weigh, measure, mix, knead, shape, roll, cook and bake , as well as how to use kitchen equipment safely and confidently.
Recipes will change throughout the programme and include a mixture of sweet and savoury dishes , introducing children to different ingredients, techniques and flavours.
The aim isn't just to make something delicious. Roots to Bytes is about helping children understand what they're doing in the kitchen, become more independent and experience the satisfaction of being able to say:
"I made this myself." Why only 4 children? Our weekly sessions are intentionally kept to a maximum of 4 children .
These are real cooking sessions, with children preparing and cooking their own food. Keeping the group small allows us to work closely with every child, demonstrate techniques properly and give each child the guidance and attention they need while still encouraging them to do as much as possible independently. Who is it for? The Weekly Cooking Club is for children aged 8–12 years .
No previous cooking experience is necessary. Children who already love cooking are very welcome, but the club is equally suitable for children who haven't had many opportunities to cook and would like to learn. What do they need to bring? Everything needed for the session is provided, including ingredients, cooking equipment and aprons .
Children should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes , and long hair should be tied back. Allergies & dietary requirements Please provide details of any food allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements when booking.
As children will be preparing food in a working kitchen where a variety of ingredients are used, please provide as much information as possible. We may contact you before the first session if we need to discuss your child's requirements further.
