Jogakbo patchwork workshop
JOGAKBO PATCHWORK WORKSHOP Sat 31st Oct 2026 10am - 2pm Jadeen Studio Te Awanga
· 4 places only · Beginner-friendly · $10 per person · Bring 0.5 metres of linen fabric or a linen garment to upcycle
In this workshop you will learn the art of Jogakbo - the Korean patchwork method of sewing together fabric scraps to create a traditional bojagi wrapping cloth. There will be a range of linen fabric scraps provided to build into your approx 80 - 90cm panel which will be usable as a small curtain, wall hanging, or bojagi wrapping cloth. You'll not only leave having learned a technique you can apply to scraps, offcuts, and future projects for years to come but with an item that is built on both resourcefulness and beauty. If you would like to make a bigger piece we will use the time we have to get as far as we can and you will be shown how to complete at home.
About me I'm Jade - a self-taught sewer and pattern maker, and a Handwork Waldorf teacher. I run a small sewing studio beside the vines in Te Awanga. I've spent years teaching sewing handwork to both adults and children - I am always discovering new areas of the textile world to discover and master.
What to bring 0.5m of linen/cotton in your main colour - new fabric or a linen garment you're happy to repurpose. You are welcome to bring any fabric you would like included in the cloth. Your own sewing machine if you have one and would like to use it. (Machines are available at the studio).
If cost is a barrier, please reach out as I'd rather talk it through with you than have it stop you from being here. Email me at [email protected]
