JÁTÉK-BOX

Heleen Hulst [https://splendoramsterdam.com/en/musicians/heleen-hulst] presents in the Uilenburgersjoel:New and playful performance/installation by Sketch351 based on György Kurtág's miniatures

JÁTÉK-BOX is an interactive performance conceived to honor and celebrate György Kurtág on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

Have you ever heard of The Price Is Right? Is spinning the wheel on live television one of your deepest, most private dreams? Do you constantly dream of contemporary music? Is watching a game show scored entirely by György Kurtág's music one of your other most deep desires?

Well, no need to keep looking, Sketch351 ensemble together with Monika Nowak might just have created the answer to prayers nobody else was listening to: a performance installation where you spin a wheel to determine, live, which of Kurtág's Játékok gets performed. There are no amazing prizes. No stainless steel home appliances. No cars, no motorcycles, no dream vacations to exotic destinations you'll never actually visit. But there ARE buttons, bells, ropes, and yes, the WHEEL OF FORTUNE. There's a cello, a flute, percussion, a piano, and a trombone, each attached to a musician, each one entirely at the mercy of you, the audience.

Want to find out more about Kurtág's music, about puppeteering professional musicians for sport, and about how "games" are not just the title of the pieces but the entire premise of the performance? Come watch JÁTÉK-BOX and spin the wheel to be fortunate enough to hear Kurtág's music live!
