
Introduction to American Sign Language
Four-week interactive ASL class teaching alphabet, basic conversations and Deaf culture on Thursdays in September
Learn the basics of American Sign Language (ASL) in a welcoming, interactive environment. This class focuses on building foundational vocabulary, developing everyday conversational skills, and communicating through ASL as a visual language. Through hands-on practice, immersive activities, and visual learning, you'll build confidence signing in everyday situations while gaining an appreciation for Deaf culture and the Deaf community.
The program runs for four weeks on Thursdays, September 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026.
Lessons will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Instructions on the ASL Alphabet and Numbers
• Greetings such as hello, goodbye, please, thank you, and more
• Family-related signs, including mother, father, brother, sister, etc.
• Practicing short dialogues with classmates
• Introducing yourself
• Understanding cultural norms within the Deaf community
