Intersectionality and the Equality Act
The case for legal recognition, fifteen years on
The case for legal recognition, fifteen years on
Fifteen years after the Equality Act 2010, UK equality law still does not adequately recognise discrimination experienced at the intersection of protected characteristics.
This parliamentary event marks the launch of a new Equality Act Review report examining the consequences of that gap for people whose experiences cannot be separated into one characteristic at a time. Bringing together parliamentarians, legal experts, researchers and community voices, the discussion will consider how the law can better reflect lived experience, and the case for explicit legal recognition of intersectional discrimination.
