Meet Jessie the Red Tailed Hawk @ Central
Free program at Cranston Public Library titled "HOLD for Bird Program" on November 7.
Dr. Danielle Lincoln and their wildlife ambassador, Jessie the red-tailed hawk, will make a presentation about raptor biology, ecology, and conservation. Jessie (Buteo jamaicensis) was injured as a juvenile when the tree they were perched in was cut down, and they broke their wrist. With the way the bone broke and healed, they are unable to fly anymore and have been a wildlife ambassador ever since.
Dr. Lincoln's talk may include: adaptations, diet, life cycle, habitat; conservation and relationship with humans. Dr. Lincoln has a permit to possess birds of prey for educational purposes and recently moved to the area from Knoxville, TN. As part of her permit, she gives an educational program every year.
