Lucianne Tonti discusses Good Witch, her history and manifesto on witch hunts and women's reclaimed knowledge, with Alyx Gorman.

For centuries, women were feared for their knowledge of bodies, nature, and community. In Good Witch , Lucianne Tonti explores the brutal history of witch hunts across Europe and North America, where tens of thousands of women were persecuted and killed. She argues that the legacy of these hunts still shapes the modern world, contributing to our disconnection from nature, community, and ourselves. Yet the wisdom and practices that were suppressed were never entirely lost.

Part history, part manifesto, Good Witch celebrates women reclaiming traditional knowledge, feminine power, and connection to the natural world, revealing why these are more important today than ever.

Lucianne Tonti is a regenerative fashion consultant and journalist. She is the fashion editor of The Saturday Paper, the sustainability editor at large for Elle Australia and a contributor to The Guardian where her column Closet Clinic has been read over 9 million times. Her award-winning book Sundressed: Natural Fibres and the Future of Fashion was published in 2022. It is currently being developed into a docuseries by Tilt Media.

Her writing also appears in Vogue Business, The Monthly, The Griffith Review, The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald. She has a Bachelor of Communication from RMIT, a post-graduate diploma in Political Science and a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Melbourne.

Alyx Gorman is an editor and journalist. She has worked in digital and print lifestyle media for 15 years in Sydney, Melbourne, New York and London. Alyx is currently the Lifestyle Editor of Guardian Australia and has been writing on the topics of sex, relationships and dating her entire career. She is also the co-author of a weekly pop culture newsletter, Saved for Later. Alyx is a frequent guest across the ABC's radio network, and has worked as a moderator and panelist for Sydney Writers' Festival, Vivid Ideas, the Powerhouse, design conference Semi-Permanent and more. Alyx holds a bachelor of social sciences from the University of Sydney, where she majored in Political Economy. She won the university's John Kenneth Galbraith Prize for Economics in 2008. Drinks and nibblies provided.
