What if you could practise making the decisions that will shape our schools’ climate-ready future? If you are part of making your school future ready or curious about how decisions made now, at your school, will impact children and staff this is one event that you do not want to miss! Join the Australian Association for Environmental Education ACT (AAEE ACT) and climate change and energy expert Beth Mitchell for an engaging afternoon of collaborative problem-solving, professional learning and connection. Beth is the founder of Future Ready Schools, an initiative reimagining our public schools as infrastructure of national significance. Future Ready Schools aims to unlock much-needed infrastructure funding by elevating the value of public schools and building them into a national framework for education, community and energy resilience. Beth brings nearly 30 years’ experience across community development, policy and sustainability leadership, including 13 years planning and delivering biodiversity, energy and circular economy initiatives in the education sector. In this session, Beth will lead an interactive world simulation built around the Sustainable Development Goals: the SDG 2030 Game. She will then invite participants to step into their role as catalysts for future ready schools: efficient, resilient and regenerative. Together, we’ll explore real-world challenges, weigh up choices, negotiate solutions and discover how collaborative decision-making can create better outcomes for schools, communities and our climate. 🌿 And we’re doing things a little differently! Plan to arrive with enough time to take a leisurely stroll through the glorious Australian National Botanic Gardens. The amphitheater outside the Crosbie Morrison Building is the destination. 4-4:30 the AAEE ACT team will have their famous 1/2 hour AGM and if you’re curious about what we offer our members you’re very welcome.
