FUNCTION 01: CoCA THEORY An immersive celebration of House music, dance expression, culture, & community. Join the Company of Collaborative Artists (CoCA) & theoretic for the inaugural edition of FUNCTION: an immersive party series centering house music history, polyrhythmic movement expression, & embodied release. Rooted in the cultural legacies of House music and Jazz dance improvisation, CoCA THEORY will explore rhythm, aesthetic, & connection. We will ask our audience what it means to embody these expressions of liberation, autonomy, & joy. WHY DO WE MOVE? 8 PM - THE CONVERSATION: History, Culture & Community Explore the evolution of House music as a reflection of Black creativity, resistance, & liberation with theoretic, Brooklyn-based DJ & producer, alongside an introduction to CoCA's artistic vision & the relationship between personal movement & collective history. 9 PM - THE MOVEMENT: Time, Shape & Connection Led by CoCA Founder & Choreographer Camille Rennie, experience an interactive movement session alongside CoCA artists.
