Dear Chet
Jazz Nights – Dinner & Live Music. Dear Chet is an intimate jazz trio paying homage to the music and artistic spirit of Chet Baker. Bringing together Rémy Labbé on trumpet and flugelhorn, Paulo Simões on guitar and Max Serra on double bass, the group revisits the lyrical, understated side of Baker’s repertoire through the unusual transparency of a drumless, piano-less trio. Rather than recreating a period sound, Dear Chet takes Baker’s essential qualities — lyricism, vulnerability, space and melodic clarity — as the starting point for a contemporary musical conversation. The absence of drums and piano leaves every nuance exposed: the horn can breathe, the guitar moves freely between harmony and counterpoint, and the double bass anchors the music while remaining an equal melodic voice. Elegant, warm and highly communicative, Dear Chet is conceived for attentive concert audiences as well as intimate club settings. This is not a nostalgia project; it’s a living tribute to a sound, and to the art of saying more with less.
