Cattyrompus
Halloween edition of Sleepy Fest's 5th anniversary — live bands, DJs, drag hosts, a puppet show and a costume party across two downtown venues.
Sleepy Cat Records will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its annual independent music festival with Cattyrompus, a special Halloween edition of Sleepy Fest taking place Saturday, October 31, in downtown Durham at The Pinhook and Rubies.
The festival brings together musicians, DJs, drag performers, visual artists, dancers, puppeteers, and other collaborators for an afternoon-to-late-night celebration of the creative community that has grown around the Carrboro-based independent label.
The festivities begin at 2 p.m. with The Prowl, featuring live music across both venues through 9 p.m. The evening continues at The Pinhook with the Hell Cat Dance Party, running from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The lineup includes Twain, Chessa Rich, Lou Hazel, MEGABITCH, Woke County Speedway, DUNUMS, T. Gold, Delver, XOXOK, Amelia Riggs, and Shane Leonard, alongside DJs Fruitti Pebbles, Tuttle Recall, Lomain, and Vera.
But Cattyrompus is more than a music festival. Throughout the day, attendees can expect a live-scored puppet show, an all-ages costume contest, a Hell Cat-themed mask-making station, visual installations, and other collaborations. At night, Durham drag performers Naomi Dix and Stormie Daie will host the Hell Cat Dance Party, with Strut the Yard bringing a Silent Disco Soul Train to the streets and around downtown.
Additional special programming includes Club Era with Stormie Daie and Naomi Dix, Stella Rosalie Rosen, Brooks Emanuel, and Heron Toe.
