Beginner Life Casting Workshop
Hands-on intro to life casting with sculptor Gina D'Aloisio: make a silicone mould of your finger and take home a plaster replica.
Gina is a Vancouver-based sculptor specializing in hyperrealistic silicone sculpture, mouldmaking, and body replication. Her work and creative process have reached an audience of over 375,000 followers across social media, where she shares her sculptural process and behind-the-scenes techniques. In this workshop, she'll bring that hands-on experience into the classroom and introduce you to some of the techniques and materials she uses in her own practice.
You'll learn the basic principles of life casting while working with materials like plaster and silicone. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll create a mould of your own finger and use it to produce a plaster replica.
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your own reusable silicone finger mould, which you can use to experiment with other materials in future classes and projects, as well as a plaster finger keychain to take home.
No previous experience is required—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get your hands messy!
