Basic Blind Faith

Ever seen an improvised musical about an important object? You're in for a treat! Basic Blind Faith We once learned to distrust superstition and embrace reason. Science, logic and technology helped humanity understand the world, challenge old beliefs and pull us out of the darkness of unquestioned dogma. But perhaps we didn't stop believing. Perhaps we simply found new things to believe in.

Basic Blind Faith is an improvised musical inspired by our complicated relationship with objects, technology and the systems we have created to make sense of the world. A phone knows where we are. A watch knows how well we slept. An algorithm knows what we want. A machine tells us what to do. A number tells us how healthy we are. A five-star rating tells us what to eat. And sometimes, we trust all of them more than we trust ourselves.

Funny, absurd, occasionally unsettling and unexpectedly tender, the show asks: When did the things we created to serve us become the things we believe in? And perhaps the strangest question of all: What happens when we stop trusting ourselves? We have a few free tickets available for our amazing volunteers! 🙌 Volunteers are asked to arrive at the venue by 18:30 to help with things like setting up chairs, handling lights, assisting at the bar, or checking tickets.

Don't worry -- we'll explain everything clearly on the spot. You'll also receive an email soon with more details and instructions. Thank you so much for volunteering -- your help makes a huge difference! 💛
