Impractical Magic
Beginning October 2, the hotel’s hidden courtyard will become a witchy escape where the atmosphere carries straight through to the menu. Guests can start with Spellbound Dates, bacon-wrapped Medjool dates layered with whipped goat cheese, hot honey, pistachio and thyme, or Hexed Chicken, crispy chicken bites with a smoked chili maple glaze. The Greenhouse takes a lighter approach with yellowfin tuna tartare, green apple, tarragon, celery leaf and a delicate potato-herb tuile. Dessert gets its own dose of magic with cinnamon sugar-dusted fried bread pudding bites and mini cheesecakes finished with dark berry gastrique, chocolate crumble and fresh berries. Cocktails are just as theatrical. The Full Moon Martini gets its dramatic jet-black hue from activated charcoal, paired with gin, blanc vermouth, maraschino liqueur and orange bitters, while Rosemary’s Baby combines bourbon with burnt orange syrup, bitters and burnt rosemary. The menu also spans apple and fall spice with the Calvados-based Apple of My Eye, pear and citrus in the Impractical Magic Sour, warming spiced Cabernet in Love Transfusion, and the glittery pink Love Potion #315, made with gin and aloe liqueur. Impractical Magic offers an enchantingly witchy way to celebrate Halloween, giving locals a new spot for cocktails, bites and a night out in one of The Eliza Jane’s most intimate spaces. Impractical Magic opens October 2 and runs through November 1 at The Eliza Jane.
