A benefit rave by Rave for Revolution to build a materials bank for the Housing Assembly and strengthen disaster resilience in informal settlements.

On the 25th of July 2026, Rave for Revolution is lighting up the Neighborgoods Market in an unprecedented mutual aid effort for storm and disaster resilience.

STORM DRILL intends to activate partygoers to contribute to a materials bank for the Housing Assembly in order to establish an accessible resource for housing movements to rebuild following disaster. The recent floods β€” a yearly occurrence β€” highlight the vulnerability of communities in informal structures to natural disasters especially flooding and fires.

Rave for Revolution would like to build proactive responses not reactive responses: grey infrastructure can be cleared, informal structures can be strengthened, rooves can be reinforced, community centres/tents can be pre-prepared. The party will run an entrance fee of R150 pre sale and R200 at the door. The venue can hold up to 400 people. The entire party is run D.I.Y by Rave for Revolution volunteers.

Housing Assembly is a housing movement advocating against the housing crisis in Cape Town by representing occupiers and communities in informal settlements across the city. They are known for rebuilding homes after disaster and advocating against eviction. Rave for Revolution is a mutual aid platform using the dance floor to support community. Hosting raves for issues like student exclusion, informal settlements like Gate 7 and communities facing adversity like those who supported the rescue of Stilfontein miners.

The Rave for Revolution will work with a number of housing movements to use the party as a point of entry for those who want to stand in solidarity with those in tenuous housing environments. We believe that Cape Town is not only it’s inequality but also it’s solidarity. Let’s keep each other warm, engaged and housed this winter.
