Guy Davis
Intimate acoustic set by storyteller and Grammy‑nominated bluesman Guy Davis blending blues, folk and world influences.
“… one of the most gifted acoustic musicians on the planet” Blues Blast Magazine.
Multi-instrumentalist Guy Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues: musician, actor, author, songwriter, and a troubadour of the folk tradition. Guy uses a blend of roots, blues, folk, rock, rap, spoken word and world music to comment on social injustice, historical events and common life struggles. His background in theatre is pronounced through the lyrical storytelling of his songs, sometimes painful, deep and real, underlined by gentle guitar or banjo fingerpicking.
Equally at ease with six- or twelve-string guitar, five-string banjo, harmonica and even the didgeridoo, Guy has performed alongside Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, Taj Mahal and Joss Stone, and opened for Chuck Berry, Joan Armatrading and BB King. His shows mix original material with classic covers from luminaries such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Bob Dylan.
“…a superb songwriter whose lyrics evoke the storytelling poetic tradition of the blues” The Country Blues Magazine.
