AI Basics

Join us for an introductory class to get you started using AI confidently.

In this interactive class, you'll try out common AI tools and explore common concerns including "deepfakes" (images and videos made by AI to seem real), basic AI prompts for effective results, and how to identify issues with accuracy and bias. Required skills: Strong English reading comprehension and the skills taught in PC Basics and Word I Basics.

What You'll Learn Explore AI features already built into tools you use every day (such as chatbots, email filters, and recommendation engines). Learn practical tips for using AI to enhance productivity. Begin incorporating simple, interactive AI elements into your daily tasks.

Topics We'll Cover How AI works: the fundamentals

Basic prompting

Common AI concerns, including:

• Bias

• Data privacy

• Errors & fabrications

• Copyright & intellectual property

• Misinformation & deepfakes

• Environmental impact

Seats are limited to 16 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive a half-hour early to sign in for a seat at one of the 16 workstations.
