Rudy

This film is a free screening as part of the Hamilton Accessibility Film Festival.

In keeping with the Disability History Month theme, films portraying people with disabilities will be highlighted. The AHA! provides the community an opportunity to watch classic and contemporary films depicting persons with disabilities or actors portraying characters with a disability through a critical lens. There will be an opportunity for discussion about the films and their content, as well as accessibility of film for all persons regardless of disability and how the community can make cinematic experiences enjoyable and accessible to everyone.

“Rudy” — Rudy Ruettiger (Sean Astin) wants to play football at the University of Notre Dame, but has neither the money for tuition nor the grades to qualify for a scholarship. After his best friend dies in an accident at the steel mill where his father works, Rudy redoubles his efforts. Overcoming his dyslexia with the help of his friend and tutor D‑Bob (Jon Favreau), Rudy gains admission to Notre Dame and fights his way onto the school’s fabled football team.

This screening will be shown with open captions for everyone.
