Circle MIT Valongo

After 25 editions of the Valongo International Theatre Festival, the Círculo MIT Valongo was born, with a new artistic approach and programmatic identity. In 2025, under the direction of the theatre company Cabeças no Ar e Pés na Terra, the theme "Dreamlike" guides the programming, exploring the boundary between real and imaginary, where theatre and video merge, expanding aesthetic horizons. Companies from Spain, USA, France, Belgium, Portugal and Scotland (United Kingdom) are part of this interdisciplinary research journey.The theme "Dreamlike" in 2025 reinforces the coherence and originality of the project, proposing an immersion in the universe of dreams, the subconscious and the altered perception of reality. This curatorial line arises from the artistic restlessness of the team and drives the selection of creations that transcend the limits of conventional theatre, integrating visual and sound elements that explore symbolism and sensory illusion. The intersection of theatre and video challenges creators and audiences to rethink the theatrical experience in a context of technological fusion.The program includes 9 performances, 2 talks, 1 collaborative painting session, 1 workshop, and 1 masterclass, providing the audience with a diverse and innovative experience.The weekend talks provide a space for sharing between creators and audiences, deepening reflection on staged narratives and their impact.Activities in the family space, such as collaborative painting, Portal in the Field, and Steam Pinballs, promote an immersive and participatory experience.A masterclass by the Belgian organization Empathiclown offers practical training in new forms of expression for amateurs and professionals.
