Warehouse Sorting & Packing - Wilmington
Volunteer shift packing and sorting food donations at the Food Bank to support families and seniors.
The Warehouse Project takes place in the warehouse at each of our branch locations. Depending on operational needs and weather conditions, this volunteer opportunity may occasionally be held outdoors.
During this project, volunteers help prepare food for distribution to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout our service area. Tasks may include:
- Sorting fresh produce and packing it into family-size bags - Sorting donations from retail partners - Cleaning and bagging Capri Sun pouches - Building Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) boxes for senior citizens - Sorting and inspecting food drive donations from individuals, community groups, and corporate partners - Cleaning and sorting eggs - Bagging cereal, rice, and pasta into family-size portions - Assisting with other warehouse activities based on current donation and distribution needs
Every volunteer shift is different, and assignments are determined by the products and donations received that day.
Important Reminder: For safety, all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes while volunteering at the Food Bank.
