Silent Reading Group with ARPF

Sacramento Public Library and the American River Parkway Foundation are delighted to extend their collaboration and bring more book-based programming to the parkway in 2026.

The Silent Reading Group is designed to make space in our busy lives for reading and listening to books, meeting new people, and sharing a community space together. Bring the book currently holding your bookmark (or occupying your headphones) and spend some time enjoying your book and the outdoors. There will be time at the end of the silent reading session to chat with fellow readers and to explore the parkway at River Bend Park.

Please register to attend. Parking passes will be available, and instructions will be emailed to registrants prior to the program date.

SPL and the American River Parkway Foundation will cohost five programs at River Bend Park in 2026, meeting on the 4th Thursday of each month (April through August) from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Program dates include:

• Silent Reading Group meetup — Thursday, April 23, 6:30 p.m. • Nature Journaling — Thursday, May 28, 6:30 p.m. • Book Discussion (Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver) — Thursday, June 25, 6:30 p.m. • Silent Reading Group meetup — Thursday, July 23, 6:30 p.m. • Nature Journaling — Thursday, August 27, 6:30 p.m.
