Open Mic Night

Open Mic Nights are back for 2026 and run fortnightly on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Come down and showcase your original music to local music lovers.

The stage is set up for acoustic guitar and vocals, with an aux to play backing tracks. If you need a more comprehensive setup please email [email protected] and we will arrange it.

The event aims to allow anyone to perform and to build a community of like-minded musicians in Chelmsford. There will be a variety of hosts for the night.

THE RULES

Please book a Musician ticket if you are looking to play and/or sing. If you are just watching please book a Spectator ticket. Walk-ins to play are possible if space allows.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult (maximum ratio 2 under 18s to 1 adult). By adult we mean a Parent or Guardian, not an 18–25 year old unless otherwise agreed.

This is a respectful environment for musicians. Hot Box runs this event free of charge; bringing your own drinks or not spending anything at the bar is discouraged. This is a play-and-stay event, not play-and-leave.
