Hands-on group activity for grades 3–5 exploring Ohio pre‑contact artifacts and cultures.
Participants will make observations of artifacts and natural materials used by people living in the four major pre-contact cultural eras. They will distinguish between cultural groups by comparing and contrasting artifacts and explain what these artifacts can teach us about changes in lifestyles across those eras.
Working in groups, students will propose theories about the use of objects, lifestyles, and differences between Ohio's main pre-contact cultural eras.
Ages: Grades 3–5. Venue: Garfield Heights Branch Library.
