Lesley Mok, John Herndon
Duet live set by percussionist Lesley Mok and Tortoise drummer John Herndon blending percussion, electronics and ambient experimental textures
Pehrspace and AKP Recordings present Lesley Mok and John Herndon.
Lesley Mok is a New York City–based percussionist and sound artist. Their work is guided by a continual search for the connection between the mundane and the divine, the experience and manipulation of time, and a desire to capture emotional dissonance and complexity. In their debut solo EP, transient, Lesley combines drums and electronics to paint a landscape that explores the sculptural qualities of beat-making, ambience, and movement. Inspired by free jazz, noise, sounds from the natural environment, and artists like Autechre and Ryuichi Sakamoto, this record traverses a soundscape that goes from kinetic maximalism to delicate stillness, creating a listening experience that bends and warps time.
John Herndon is an American musician and artist. Based in Chicago, he is a founding member of the post-rock band Tortoise, where he plays drums and percussion. Herndon also works as a producer for instrumental hip hop under the name A Grape Dope.
