Awakening Tour

On the first Sunday of March, the start of the road season at DTC is with the Awakening Tour.

A beautiful tour to kick off the road season. A flat run-up and several climbs on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Well signposted, beautiful roads and a coffee stop in a nice place.

Before departure you will be warmly welcomed as a participant in our cozy canteen with delicious coffee and some sweets. Along the way there is a resting point in a beautiful place where you can enjoy coffee or tea. After arrival you can enjoy a cup of pea soup or vegetarian soup, a sausage or cheese soufflé sandwich and a beer or other drink.

Route information: First more than 40 km of twisting and turning the Flemish way on flat, low-traffic farm roads of the Kromme Rijn area. After Wijk bij Duurstede we cycle over the dike to Amerongen (often with a tailwind at this time of year). In Amerongen the routes split and the 130 km riders ride a loop via Rhenen including climbs of the Dikkenberg, Grebbeberg and the Roodlandberg. There is a coffee stop before the Amerongseberg. After the climb the route goes over flat back roads back to the Heuvelrug with several short climbs and finally the Pyramid of Austerlitz before the finish in Driebergen.

This event is a good test of condition and preparation for the season to come.

The registration fee includes coffee or tea at the start and along the way, and the soup, sandwich and drink at the finish.
